On Line meeting content for week starting Feb. 18For this weeks On Line meeting content, I have links to three articles, which can be found in the Home Page Down Load Files section of website. Just look in far left column at the bottom, the three files are linked there Or here.
All have the same theme, what do Gen Y and Millennials look for before joining a service organization. The bolding, underlining and highlight color are all mine.
One quote that stuck out for me was "this generation first looks at a problem in the world and then find a solution they can support through their service."
As think about repositioning our Club with an idea of flexibility in Service Above Self, I think these three articles are great ways to start the discussion. The following link will take you to the Group Discussion page on FB. Lets talk during the week in the Group discussion. https://www.facebook.com/groups/newrotaryeclub/
After reading, please go to this link to record your participation for the week. http://goo.gl/forms/0WH0pPHXS1
Again, you can do this reading anytime during the week, complete the form using the above link to record your participation.

The E-Club of Southern Scotland is a new E-Club. The video below (click on Read More...) was their first monthly speaker Sammi Kinghorn, wheel chair racer. They are mostly an On Line club for most of their meetings.
What I want us to review is the format and the impact this meeting format. This was the format that I thought our Club would use to bring in interesting speakers from anywhere in the world.
Some background, this meeting had over 45 viewers live from 9 different countries, 8 different time zones. Quite impressive.
While this meeting was conducted LIVE, I would see no reason why we could not do similar for our Monthly Speaker meeting. Those that can make it great, but if we could record for viewing by other members during the week at their convince, one of the strengths of our Club format.
The video below is 37 minutes long and they all talking in the Scottish brog, a bit hard to understand at times. Please take particular attention to the first five minutes as they do the introduction. Then pay attention again starting at 26 minutes when they start the Q&A for the speaker. Even if we could have a few members Live to ask these types of questions I think would add a lot of texture to the speaker.
Also, by using this format generally, I think we would not have to be ashamed of the size of the Club as it is now. They would know that the potential reach is much greater than those LIVE.
Creating a body of this type of recordings of speakers could allow us to offer more flexible make up meeting for Rotarians throughout the District.
I'm going to open the Group Discussion for this week's topic if you would like to make a comment during the week.
The link to the group is here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/newrotaryeclub/

Main service project for our club has updated nameThe main service project for our club was named the FOUR R Book Project. At the end of last year we re-branded the service project Book Bridges. Still same project, we raise funds to purchase new, age appropriate, books for children of prisoners. The books are given in the incarcerated parents name to the child. The goal is to bridge connection between parent and child, bridge academic achievement for these kids.
We will be at the Oshkosh Farmer's Market again this Saturday, Feb. 13 selling used books we have collected to raise more funds for the Book Bridges service project.
